Ricky Williams was absolutely dominant during his time at the University of Texas, first as a fullback in the offense of Coach John Mackovic, and later as a tailback for Coach Mack Brown. He broke Tony Dorsett’s all-time career rushing record on a long touchdown run against arch-rival Texas A&M shortly after this magazine hit newsstands. 

This Sports Illustrated cover captures Williams running roughshod over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The magazine has been in my possession since it arrived in my mailbox 25-plus years ago. The cover and binding have some wear, but it’s in overall very good condition.
