Jim Abbott has a miraculous story of overcoming the lack of a right hand to become a great collegiate pitcher, an Olympic gold medalist, and a solid hurler in the Major Leagues. He was one in a long line of great Michigan baseball players in the 1980s, a lineage that included Barry Larkin and Chris Sabo.
