Bob Lanier averaged 20.1 points and 10.1 rebounds a game across 14 seasons with the Pistons and Bucks. Perhaps most impressively, he’s name-checked in the comedy film Airplane when little Joey tells Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that he only really plays hard during the playoffs. “Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lainer up and down the court for 48 minutes a night.”
