Walt Hazzard was a standout at UCLA, averaging 18.6 points a game for the Bruins' 1964 national championship team (John Wooden's first).
Hazzard wasn't as great a star in the NBA, but he pieced together a solid 10-season career with the Lakers, Sonics, Hawks, Braves, and Warriors. He averaged 12.6 points, 4.9 assists, and 3 rebounds, and he made the All Star team in 1968.
What's amazing about this card is just how sharp and crisp it is. These tallboy cards from the Topps 1969–70 and 1970-71 sets tend to be pretty beat up for whatever reason. This card is in fantastic shape for its age — and it's the first Walt Hazzard card produced.
